Equipment Director directs the management of company equipment including procurement activities, preventative maintenance, repair/replacement and safety assurance. Manages the records, licenses, inspections, warrantees, and service agreements for the organization's equipment and tools. Being an Equipment Director minimizes organizational cost through product standardization and tracking. Document and tracks equipment performance throughout the product lifetime. Additionally, Equipment Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Equipment Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. To be an Equipment Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience.     Job Summary

    Manages service operations within the dealership to maximize return on investment by optimizing Service Department processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction. Grows profitable service labor sales and exercises disciplined expense control. Attracts, retains, and effectively engages department personnel.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develops, communicates, enforces, and monitors effective Service Department processes to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction.
    • Creates annual Service Department goals and budget, in alignment with the organization's financial and operational objectives.
    • Executes Service Department marketing plan and monitors monthly to ensure achievement of departmental goals.
    • Submits all service warranty and Product Improvement Program claims within the required timeframe to receive maximum credit.
    • Opens ROs, Schedules and assigns jobs and work areas to employees in the Service Department according to their skills and knowledge.
    • Reviews work orders for completeness and accuracy prior to customer billing.
    • Ensures all departmental tools, equipment, and vehicles are in good working order.
    • Manages recruiting, staffing and employee development activities for employees reporting to this position.

    Skills and Knowledge:

    • 3 years’ experience in Service Department operations.
    • Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions.
    • Ability to lead and motivate others.
    • Ability to write and speak effectively to individuals and groups.
    • Familiar with John Deere and competitive products.
    • Fluent understanding of financial principles relative to Service Department operations.
    • Ability to analyze and interpret internal reports.
    • Ability to work extended hours and weekends.
    • Excellent customer service skills.

    Other Requirements:

    • Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test.
    • Due to safety regulations you must be 25 to apply.

    Minimum qualifications:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field
    • Proficient in MS Office.
    • Authorized to work in US.
    • Experience managing departmental operations consisting of 12 direct reports.
