  • Position Summary: The Athletic Trainer works in a fast-paced medical practice environment carrying out the practice of preventing, recognizing, evaluating, managing, disposing, treating, reconditioning, or rehabilitating injuries, under the supervision of a physician and in accordance with established regulations, privileges, and protocols, the Athletic Trainer works in a fast-paced medical practice environment carrying out the practice of preventing, recognizing, evaluating, managing, disposing, treating, reconditioning, or rehabilitating injuries. In carrying out these functions, the athletic trainer may use physical modalities, such as heat, light, sound, cold, or electricity, or mechanical devices. The athletic trainer shall practice only in those areas in which he or she is competent by reason of his or her training or experience. This role will develop and cultivate contacts with referring physicians, businesses, schools, coaches and other referral sources requiring travel within St. Claire Regional#s service area and may require evening and/or weekend hours. Duties/Responsibilities: ### #Athletic Trainer shall treat patients of Hospital and its designated sites in a diligent, knowledgeable and skillful manner in accordance with currently acceptable standards of practice in his/her professional specialty, applicable state and federal laws and regulations, and JCAHO standards. ### #Athletic Trainer shall consult with physicians and/or other Hospital medical staff concerning matters beyond or outside the Athletic Trainer#s professional ability. ### #Utilizes appropriate, sound and up-to-date clinical techniques to effectively assess and treat injuries. ### #Provides patient and community education in the areas of sports injury prevention and care. ### #Completes all documentation in a timely manner. ### #Assists with day-to-day operations of the clinic. ### #Athletic Trainer shall assist in the training and education of students as requested by Hospital in matters within Athletic Trainer#s professional specialty. ### #Athletic Trainer shall perform the duties specified herein in Hospital or at other designated sites provided by Hospital. ### #Develops and cultivates contacts with referring physicians, businesses, schools, coaches and other referral sources. # ### #Develops a regular schedule of visits to area schools, visiting coaches, athletic directors, student athletes and parents. ### #Athletic Trainer shall comply with all policies, rules and regulations of Hospital, which are applicable to his/her duties. ### #Athletic Trainer shall stay current and comply with regulatory and accreditation requirements. ### #If credentialed as a Certified Orthopedic Technologist and appropriate privileges granted by SCR, the Athletic Trainer may provide surgical assist responsibilities to orthopedic surgeons. Skills/Abilities:# ### #Effective interpersonal skills to communicate both in person and in writing. # ### #Ability to work as a team member with SCH#staff.# Education: Bachelor#s degree from an accredited athletic training program. # Experience:# One to three years of experience preferred. # Licensure/Certification:# Certified by the National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification. Current certification by the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure. CPR certification required. Certified Orthopedic Technologist credential preferred.
