Horse Care Assistant - Evening
Allegheny Equine is a premier equine veterinary clinic located in Western Pennsylvania. Our practice is seeking a Horse Care Assistant to support our growing demands. The ideal candidate must possess good critical thinking and problem-solving skills, compassion, a positive attitude, follow-through and excellent communication and teamwork skills. Punctuality is expected. The ideal candidate is available Sunday through Saturday evening. Start time would be 6:00 pm (or later) to support the evening rounds at our clinic.
Specific Duties
Must have reliable transportation. Horse experience is preferred but not necessary. Complete care of Equine Clinic, which will include but not limited to: cleaning stalls, cleaning and filling water buckets/troughs, unloading/stocking hay, blanketing, assisting with veterinary care, turning out all horses including mare and foals, keeping clinic clean and organized.
Minimum qualifications
Ability to: Communicate in a clear, concise, polite and professional manner;
Demonstrate effective time management and organizational skills;
Learn basic veterinary terminology;
Demonstrate basic horse handing skills and knowledge;
Possess computer skills, including the ability to learn veterinary management software.
