Scope:
The Quality Control Specialist is responsible for ensuring adherence to quality standards within an organization and maintaining the documentation associated with ISO9001 standards. This role involves conducting quality control checks, maintaining document control procedures, and collaborating with various departments to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Essential Job Functions:
1. Quality Control:
- Conduct regular quality control checks on processes, products, and documents to ensure adherence to established quality standards.
- Identify and report deviations or non-conformances and collaborate with relevant departments to address and resolve issues.
- Participate in internal and external quality audits.
2. Regulatory Compliance:
- Stay updated on industry regulations and standards relevant to the organization.
- Ensure that all documents and processes comply with regulatory requirements.
3. Document Control:
- Develop and implement document control procedures to ensure efficient and accurate management of documents.
- Maintain a centralized document repository, ensuring version control and accessibility for authorized personnel.
- Review and approve documents for compliance with organizational standards.
4. Collaboration:
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, manufacturing, and R&D, to ensure seamless coordination in document management and quality control.
- Provide guidance to departments on document creation, formatting, and approval processes.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather and distribute documents.
5. Training:
- Conduct training sessions on document control and quality management procedures for employees.
- Foster a culture of quality awareness within the organization.
6. Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency in document control and quality management.
- Implement best practices and contribute to the continuous improvement of quality systems.
7. Communication
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth production flow and cross shift alignment.
- Facilitate communication regarding document changes, updates, and approvals.
- Collaborate with other departments as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the company.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
- Full Time Non-Exempt
- Monday through Friday
- Weekends as needed.
- Required to work onsite 100% of the time.
Travel:
- Limited travel in the Warren area
Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in a manufacturing and office environment.
- Percentage of Office – 15%
- Percentage of Travel – 5%
- Percentage of Manufacturing and Distribution - 80%
Physical Demands:

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk, and hear.
- Occasional heavy lifting of up to 50 pounds.
Required and Experience:
- High school diploma or 5 years of related work experience; OR
- Associate degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field AND 2 years of related work experience; OR
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field.
- Relevant certifications in quality management (e.g., Certified Quality Engineer, ISO 9001 Lead Auditor) are desirable.
- Strong Proven experience in document control and quality control within a regulated industry.
- Knowledge of quality management systems, standards, and regulatory requirements (ISO, FDA, etc.).
Competencies/Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in document control software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work collaboratively and independently in a fast-paced environment.
