E.P.I. is an independent specialty medical practice in Columbus, Ohio and seeks a full-time Medical Accounts Receivable Billing/Collections Representative. This position is accountable for all duties related to reimbursement of claims for services rendered. Responsibilities include accounts receivable follow-up, collections, timely and accurate insurance claim submission, credit balance reconciliation, customer service, prior authorization, data entry, charge entry, correspondence and denial follow-up, payment posting and reconciliation.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Process daily electronic and paper claim submissions.
• Request/obtain prior authorizations
• Generate and scrub claim batches and submit electronically via Zirmed.
• Mail paper claims.
• Review and resubmit electronic claim rejections.
• Print electronic EOB’s.
• Post and reconcile daily payments.
• Reconcile billing issues/denials research and investigate claims which are not being paid (i.e. aged over 30 days or more) and be persistent until claim issue is resolved.
• Accounts receivable to ensure payments are received, recorded, balanced and overdue collection calls are made.
• Research outstanding claims, correcting, appealing and resubmitting as needed.
• Resolve patient concerns.
• Pursue accounts receivable balances.
• Follow specific policy and procedure regarding write offs
• Generate and process patient statements.
• Prepare accounts for collections in accordance with company policy.
• Maintain websites for insurance companies.
• Maintain contact for insurance company questions and disputes for E.P.I.
• Send records to insurance companies when requested
• Prepare, submit and obtain prior authorization and/or certification required for patient testing and procedures.
• Back up to front desk and administrative staff.
• Research and process charge backs, returns and bad checks.
• Complete appeals and process denials.

Requirements

Experience with electronic medical record systems.

2 years’ experience working within a healthcare revenue cycle

2-4 years’ experience in office coding, 1 years of experience working with insurances

Experience in health information management preferred.

Excellent customer service skills.

High attention to detail.
