Merchandise Planner plans and forecasts for future merchandise buys based on historical buys, reoccurring buys and current inventory levels. Responsible for reviewing stock to sales ratios, responding to changing sales trends, and ensuring plan sales, plan markups, and plan markdowns are achieved by departments. Being a Merchandise Planner plans and coordinates merchandise flow-through. Inputs and maintains data in various merchandising systems. Additionally, Merchandise Planner may require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Job Summary: Under supervision, provides entry level professional support in transportation planning activities including multimodal short-and long-range plans and geographic planning analysis.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Under close supervision, performs duties at a beginning working level in the planning and analysis of the statewide transportation system existing and future needs. Duties may include:
· Responsible for understanding and communicating the transportation conditions and needs within assigned area and making recommendations for improvement.
· Analyzes, interprets, and/or applies federal and state regulations, laws, and policies.
· Writes technical documents and executive briefings.
· Manages consultant transportation planning contracts.
· Collects data and analyzes for programmed transportation projects including collecting existing traffic and crash data.
· Other transportation-planning related job duties as assigned.
NOTE: This position may require statewide travel with occasional overnight stays.
Entry Qualifications:
· High School diploma/GED and two (2) years of job- related experience in the transportation industry
· OR Associate degree in transportation, logistics, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Two (2) years of experience in Rural or Urban Transportation Planning.
· Experience analyzing, interpreting, and /or applying federal or state regulations.
· Experience and/or knowledge of transportation funding sources, particularly federal and state programs.
· Experience with HCS or ArcGIS software.
· Proficient with MS PowerPoint and MS Excel advanced formulas, such as VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables
· Ability to gather, interpret, and summarize information for the purpose of writing technical reports/documents.
· Possesses strong oral communication skills, ideas and facts to individuals or groups effectively.
· Manages priorities, setting well-defined and realistic personal goals.
· Ability to motivate and promote teamwork.
· Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
· Ability to apply innovative solutions in solving problems.
