Park Naturalist jobs in Aurora, IL

Park Naturalist plans, develops, and conducts programs to inform the public of historical, natural, and scientific features concerning national, state, or local parks. May require a bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Being a Park Naturalist is familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. EONC Program Naturalist
  • SKOKIE PARK DISTRICT

    • Assist with the development of and lead programming for preschoolers, school-aged children, families, and adults, including educational classes and outdoor recreational activities.
    • Direct one of the Earth Adventures summer camps and supervise up to five staff.
    • Assist with the development, preparation and leadership of seasonal community special events (i.e. Earth Day Celebration and Winter Chilly Fest) and family programming.
    • Interact with volunteers and assist with customer service at the front desk, as needed.
    • Participate in the district-wide Environmental Action Team and serve as an example of an individual who strives to live an environmentally-conscious lifestyle.
    • Support other nature center programming and operations, as needed.
    • Hours: 30-35 hrs/week includes daytime, evening, and weekend hours, with occasional overnight hours.

    Seeking a creative and enthusiastic adult who enjoys working with people and sharing their love of the natural world. Experience with children or leading group activities, excellent presentation and communication skills, a strong work ethic, familiarity with Earth Education, exposure to outdoor recreational skills, and a personal commitment to the natural world are preferred. Must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent (GED). A degree in Environmental Science or Nature Education preferred but not required. This position is eligible to participate in the District’s retirement plan (IMRF).
