Phlebotomist draws and collects blood samples from patients, verifies records and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis. May prick finger to draw blood. Being a Phlebotomist may conduct interviews, take vital signs, and draw and test blood samples to screen donors at blood bank. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Additionally, Phlebotomist requires Certification by a nationally recognized body. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Phlebotomist's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Computer skills are also a must. Your comfort and ability with Microsoft Word, Excel, and general computer knowledge will be tested.
Duties will Include:- Perform blood draws on patients and prepare for LabCorp/Fed-Ex pick-up daily.
- Mix and administer several different I.V. treatments for patients ( training included) Under supervision of an M.D.
- Answer any questions a patient may ask about lab test kits and labs.
- Administer oxygen/oxygen multi-step therapy for patients.
- Take patients' pulses, blood pressure readings, weight, and temperature.
- Assist in the front office with patient calls and assist in appointments with scribing.
