Physician Assistant - Orthopedics assesses, plans, and provides patient care under the supervision of a physician. Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examinations, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination. Being a Physician Assistant - Orthopedics orders and interprets appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests. Participates in daily patient rounds, writes progress notes, conducts patient education, counsels on preventative care, assists in surgery, writes prescriptions, and prepares discharge summaries. Additionally, Physician Assistant - Orthopedics requires a master's degree in Health Sciences for Physician Assistants or related. Requires completion of the PANCE exam administered by National Commission of the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Requires Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C). Typically reports to a Physician. Physician Assistant - Orthopedics's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Duties
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments, including DOT exams, Pre-Op, EKG, and venipuncture
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans
- Perform intermuscular Injections
- Educate patients on preventive healthcare measures and promote healthy lifestyle choices
- Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostic procedures
- Administer IV infusions and perform other advanced medical procedures as necessary
Skills
- Proficient in pain management techniques and able to provide appropriate interventions for pain relief
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and ability to effectively communicate with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals
- Willing to get certified for DOT and other Occupational Health
- Skilled in aseptic technique to ensure infection control during medical procedures
- Familiarity with medical imaging modalities such as X-rays, CT scans, and MRIs for diagnostic purposes
- Excellent patient assessment skills to identify health concerns and develop appropriate treatment plans
- Competent in providing services across a wide range of medical conditions and age groups
- Willing to learn Intra-articular Injections
- Proficient in administering IV infusions safely and accurately
- Knowledge of public health principles and ability to promote health education and disease prevention initiatives
