The Print Supervisor is the first escalation point for any printing department team member and reports directly to the Plant Manager. This role is responsible for directing and monitoring the work of print team members to ensure effective and timely manufacture of quality products while also participating in the day-to-day production tasks (i.e. running machines, QA, etc.).
Description of Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate production operations within given work area and shift
- Relieve team members for designated breaks; cover machines as necessary
- Conduct performance evaluations of print team members
- Direct print team members in managing schedules as per established procedures and budget
- Monitor performance on established indicators; variance, production, quality, scrap, safety reports
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations to minimize industrial injuries and meet regulatory requirements
- Support management in ensuring production commitments are met
- Recommend, support, implement and ensure that safety is paramount in the production team’s performance
- Perform job and safety training activities for all new department personnel
- Monitor the setup of materials, equipment and staff to ensure success
- Monitor quality checks to assure that the product is being produced within specifications
- Report production numbers, quality issues, and safety issues to Plant Manager
- Perform tasks that may require mainly physical abilities and efforts
- Observe equipment operations so that malfunctions can be detected and notify maintenance
- Examine products to verify conformance to quality standards
- Make minor adjustments to machinery as needed
- Remove products, machine attachments, and waste material from machines as needed
- Transfer finished products, raw materials, tool, or equipment between storage and work areas
- Other duties as assigned
Education / Knowledge / Experience:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required; some college preferred
- 3-5 years of progressive manufacturing / production line responsibility
- 2 years of supervisory or lead experience in a manufacturing or production environment
- Manufacturing and production safety knowledge required
- Mechanical aptitude
