    The Division of Computing, Analytics and Mathematics (CAM) is one of the four divisions in the School of Science and Engineering (SSE). The SSE recently added a new $40M ($23M building and $17M equipment), 58,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art facility to support multidisciplinary education, collaborative research, and economic development initiatives. Some of the key components of this new facility are AR/VR Lab, Innovation Studio & 3D Printing Lab, and High-Performance Computing Lab.

    CAM is instrumental to the University of Missouri System's NextGen Data Science and Analytics Innovation Center (dSAIC), which supports university research across the state and plays a critical role in the region's health, business, and workforce development. dSAIC is based at UMKC and operates in partnership with the University of Missouri-Columbia.

    CAM faculty have joint projects with the UMKC Missouri Institute of Defense and Energy (MIDE), School of Pharmacy, School of Medicine, and School of Humanities and Social Sciences. MIDE is founded on bridging fundamental physics with applied engineering to solve longstanding challenges in the defense, energy, and related commercial sectors. As of 2021, MIDE has secured $50M in externally awarded grants and contracts. In 2015, MIDE was presented with the R&D100 award for a defense technology that led to two small businesses and two licensed patents; two MIDE faculty received the Intel Outstanding Researcher award for their work on next-generation transistors. They are the only recipients from the University of Missouri System since the award's inauguration in 2012.

    Job Description

    CAM offers undergraduate degrees in Computer Science (ABET-accredited), Information Technology (ABET-accredited), and Mathematics, MS degrees in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, and Statistics, and Ph.D. degrees in Computer Science, Computer Networking and Communication Systems, and Mathematics. These programs foster an open, collaborative research and education environment. Most recently, the CAM division has received a $3M NSF NRT grant and an $879K CDC grant. The existing Computer Science research focuses on AI, Big Data Analytics, Bioinformatics, Cloud Computing, Computer Networks, Cybersecurity, and Software Engineering. The new hires will undertake research and education initiatives to strengthen the current areas and mentor our diverse student population.

    The Division of Computing, Analytics & Mathematics (CAM) is seeking applications and nominations for multiple tenure-track/tenured faculty positions in Computer Science at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level, starting in Spring or Fall 2024. Areas of interest include AI, AR/VR, Cybersecurity, Data Science, and other emerging fields. Strong candidates in all areas of Computer Science will be considered.

    The successful candidates will be expected to:

    1) have a strong commitment to teaching courses in the undergraduate and graduate programs;

    2) develop and sustain an extramurally funded research program;

    3) engage in departmental, school, or university services appropriate to the position;

    4) advance the goals and strategic plan of SSE and UMKC.

    Minimum Qualifications

    The candidates must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science or a closely related discipline prior to the start date.

    Full Time/Part Time

    Full-time, 9-month, benefit-eligible, ranked tenure-eligible academic faculty positions starting in Spring or Fall 2024

    Salary is negotiable and commensurate with rank, credentials, success in obtaining external research funding, and experience
