Safety Director directs, develops, and oversees the general health and safety policies and procedures of the organization. Ensures the workplace is in compliance with OSHA and other state, local, or industry specific regulations and that periodic safety audits are conducted. Being a Safety Director provides programs that ensure a safe workplace including safety orientations, skill training, emergency preparedness, proper job instruction, hazardous material disposal procedures, and the use of protective equipment. Develops a systemic process to collect data and analyze the causes of accidents and generate required reporting. Additionally, Safety Director implements initiatives to reduce and prevent accidents, occupational illnesses, and exposure to long-term health hazards. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Safety Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. To be a Safety Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.     What you'll get to do:
    • Establish comprehensive Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Management programs that ensure legal compliance, promote safety, and enhance accountability and transparency.
    • Lead and execute the company's safety-focused vision to ensure organizational effectiveness and reinforce the safety and mentorship culture throughout the organization.
    • Maintain regulatory compliance and operational excellence by applying construction methodologies, safety practices/plans, inspections/audits, preventive/corrective actions, risk management, and incentive programs.
    • Foster continuous learning and improvement through comprehensive EHS training for all staff members.
    • Strengthen partnerships and stakeholder relations by serving as a safety liaison between clients, subcontractors, BROWZ, and inspectors, ensuring alignment with safety standards and protocols.
    • Manage and mentor regional safety leads, providing them with the training and direction they need to successfully oversee safety operations on job sites.
    About you:

    • You enjoy having boots on the ground and are willing to travel approximately one week per month to job sites as needed.
    • You have either a B.S. degree in Health & Safety, Engineering OR a combination of related education and/or EHS experience.
    • You have 5 years of Construction EHS experience.
    • You're knowledgeable about workers' compensation laws.
    • You know your way around OSHA, EPA, NEC, NFPA, building, and life safety codes.
    • You have technical expertise in heavy civil, industrial, and mission-critical construction methodology, safety practices, and risk management programs.
    • You have managed fleet safety and insurance claims.
    Even better (but not required) if:
    • You are CSP, CHST, OSHT, CSST, or CRIS certified.
    • You have incident investigation training in root cause analysis techniques such as TOPSET or TAPROOT and can provide training for regional safety leads.
    • You have multi-state safety management experience.
