Staff Nurse - RN - Psychiatric Unit provides professional nursing care to assigned patients with varying levels of mental health disorders and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities, including outpatients and psychiatric inpatients. Works as part of an interdisciplinary medical team to evaluate patients and develop treatment plans. Being a Staff Nurse - RN - Psychiatric Unit administers medications, monitors patient progress, and records observations in patient medical records. Promotes patients' independence by teaching patients and families to understand conditions, medications, and self-care skills. Additionally, Staff Nurse - RN - Psychiatric Unit may supervise lower-level nurses. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
- Monitor patient progress and make necessary adjustments to care plans
- Educate patients and their families on disease management and treatment options
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care
- Perform specimen collection processing and ensure accurate documentation
- Assist with discharge planning and provide post-discharge support
- Utilize electronic medical record systems (e.g., eClinicalWorks) to maintain accurate patient records
- Adhere to aseptic techniques and infection control protocols
- Provide support for patients with developmental disabilities or special needs
