Teacher Kindergarten prepares lessons and instructs students in an assigned elementary school's kindergarten. EARLY CHILDHOOD PRESCHOOL TEACHER
INTRODUCTION: To provide early childhood education and child care by planning, supervising, and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum for children of differing abilities.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Form a warm and loving relationship with each child in the classroom.
2) With heavy support from a Curriculum Coordinator, provide a variety of developmentally appropriate curriculum activities for children to achieve classroom and individual goals. Develop a daily schedule and weekly lesson plans, and provide appropriate materials and equipment.
3) Provide a safe, healthy physical environment. Ensure the classroom and other locations are safe, clean, and free of hazards which can harm children by doing a quick sweep of the environment (classroom, playground, big room, etc.) each time it is entered. Ensure surfaces (tables, chairs, counters, toys, climbers etc.) are clean and disinfected regularly to reduce spread of germs.
4) Maintain appropriate ratio levels within the classroom and notify front office immediately if assistance is needed. Provide appropriate supervision to children at all times to limit accidents and injuries.
5) Communicate regularly with parents through a variety of means, regarding classroom activities, child’s progress, etc.
6) Provide large and small group instruction, play and other activities for the facilitation of the development and learning of children with diverse needs.
7) Co-teach with a special education teacher in order to effectively provide early intervention services for children with disabilities in an inclusive preschool setting.
8) Consult with and receive training from therapists and other specialists regarding therapeutic procedures and techniques for children with disabilities.
9) Attend IEP/IFSP meetings and conferences regarding children with disabilities placed in that teacher’s classroom.
10) Supervise paraprofessional staff members, practicum students, and volunteers placed in the classroom.
11) Prepare classroom and other assigned areas for nightly cleaning by removing all clutter, stacking/moving furniture, and performing designated tasks to ensure facility cleanliness can be maintained. Perform other cleaning or related tasks as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Child Development and Family Studies, or a closely related field or equivalent combination of training and experience.
