Test Pilot Manager oversees pilots who test model aircraft to ensure compliance with federal regulations and product specifications. Determines if model is suitable for flying and testing. Being a Test Pilot Manager organizes scheduling for testing and for demonstrations for government officials or customers. Recommends changes to cockpit or aircraft to better meet the pilot's needs or to improve flight. Additionally, Test Pilot Manager assists engineering team in developing tests and maneuvers for test pilots. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to the head of a unit/department. The Test Pilot Manager typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Position Description Summary:
Shall perform testing, including but not limited to the use of ground and in-flight diagnostic test equipment during various phases of flight, including engine run-up and taxi to ensure aircraft systems or components disturbed during an inspection or maintenance action have been repaired, reassembled, or adjusted.
This position is subject to pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as well as a pre-employment physical.
Required Experience/Education:
Successfully completed MTPC for the MDS H60 series assigned, able to pass an FAA second class flight physical, and 1,000 hours of PC/PIC time.
Essential Job Functions:
Work Environment: Aircraft areas, workshops, and other industrial/outdoor settings.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on occasion, sit or stand for long periods of time.
Other Essential Functions: Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, make rational decisions, and exercise good judgement.
