Engineering Design Manager - Natural Gas Transmission and Distribution

Orbital Engineering, Inc. is currently seeking an Engineering Design Manager - Natural Gas Transmission and Distribution to support our Utility Services group in our Hammond, IN office.

Responsibilities include:

• Management of natural gas engineering design transmission and distribution projects to meet proposed schedule and budget targets
• Provide leadership to engineers and designers supporting the natural gas projects
• Assure engineering and design compliance with natural gas standards and codes
• Develop and review client proposals for engineering design support services
• Lead and monitor safe work practices
• Experience in designing distribution main, transmission pipelines, and regulating/metering facilities
• Oversee quality control of engineering deliverables including drawings, scopes of work and specifications
• Maintain relationships with internal and external clients
• Review staff timesheets and expense reports for accuracy
• Comply with client requirements for budget forecasting
• Manage staff performance reviews
• Attend weekly management meetings and report on department performance
• Travel to client sites and company meetings on an as needed basis  

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering curriculum from a 4 year ABET accredited college or university
• Strong analytical and communication skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• 10 years of Natural Gas engineering work experience
• This position requires the ability to pass a post-offer drug (including marijuana) and alcohol test in compliance with Federal regulations and is also subject to random testing as a condition of continued employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
• Documented engineering management experience
• Liquified Natural Gas, Underground Storage and Propane Operations experience
