Accounting Clerk jobs in Houma, LA
Accounting Clerk performs routine accounting activities such as data entry, maintenance of the general ledger, preparation of various accounting statements and financial reports. Reviews, codes, and verifies transactions including billings, invoices, checks, and journal entries. Being an Accounting Clerk assists in completing moderately complex calculations using spreadsheets and other software tools. Reconciles accounts and bank statements. Additionally, Accounting Clerk has a basic understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Accounting Clerk works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Corporate Realty is seeking an experienced, full-time Accounting Clerk for a New Orleans office portfolio which includes retail, medical, and office building assets. This person will be responsible for assisting our property accountants and ensuring the companies daily accounting functions are completed.
Job Duties:
- Prepares work to be accomplished by gathering and sorting documents and related information.
- Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, as requested, in a timely manner.
- Maintain proper vendor records.
- Prepare bank deposits and ensure proper A/R posting in accounting software.
- Pays invoices by verifying transaction information; scheduling and preparing disbursements; obtaining authorization of payment.
- Maintains accounting ledgers by posting account transactions.
- Resolves account discrepancies by investigating documentation, issuing stop payments, payments, or adjustments.
- Maintains financial security by following internal accounting controls.
- Secures financial information by completing database backups.
- Maintains financial historical records by filing accounting documents.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related to department goals.

- Financial software (Yardi experience preferred)
