Will work with several layers in the construction industry and must have a strong understanding of project-based accounting.
Responsibilities
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in conjunction with the Controller.
Analyze financial performance and provide actionable insights to senior management.
Monitor project budgets, expenditures, and financial forecasts.
Work with Project Managers to understand how they track and manage construction project costs, including labor, materials, and subcontractor expenses.
Ensure accurate allocation of costs and timely billing to clients.
Conduct variance analysis to identify discrepancies and recommend corrective actions.
Develop and manage annual budgets for various projects and departments.
Prepare financial forecasts and cash flow projections.
Collaborate with project managers to ensure budget adherence and cost efficiency.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies.
Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Help support external audits and tax filings.
Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and support as needed (A/R, A/P, billing, etc.).
Conduct performance evaluations and facilitate professional development opportunities.
Foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
Oversee the maintenance and enhancement of accounting systems and software.
Streamline and improve accounting processes and procedures.
Ensure timely and accurate processing of accounts payable and receivable.
Collaborate with project managers, estimators, and other stakeholders to ensure financial alignment.
Communicate financial performance and issues to senior management.
Assist in the development of financial strategies and business plans.
