Reid Park Zoological Society is seeking an Accounting Support Specialist. Associate’s in Business Administration or 4 year’s accounts support experience required. QuickBooks experience an advantage.
The Society is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to support, advocate for and enhance the value of Reid Park Zoo and its mission to encourage commitment to the conservation of biological diversity and to provide educational and fun experiences for visitors of all ages. Reid Park Zoo is the largest attended cultural attraction in Southern Arizona with approximately 500,000 visitors annually. : The Accounting Support Specialist will provide accounting and clerical support to the Finance/ IT Department by assisting with the following: daily entry of data related to financial transactions, filing, answering phone calls and other administrative duties. Employee should be assertive and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
Reports To: Business Systems Analyst
Responsibilities
Bookkeeping and data entry: Process daily bank deposit following procedures and internal controls established.- Compile daily deposit report from database for general ledger entry.
- Enter deposit transactions into accounting system.
- Process all cash and check receipts with other staff members according to organization procedures.
- Data entry for accounts receivable and accounts payable.
- Coordinate signature procedure for outgoing correspondence.
- Maintain and organize accounting files.
- Assist audit preparation.
- Archive accounting files after the fiscal year-end.
- Answer and screen phone calls for all staff members during the period of receptionist absence.
- Provide customer service for visitors.
- Perform duties in accordance with RPZS policies such as completing expense reports and purchasing.
- Interface and cooperate with other departments.
Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:- Associate degree in Business Administration OR 4 years' work Accounts support experience.
- Excellent customer service. Experience in administration support required.
- Strong bookkeeping experience using QuickBooks.
- Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet browsers software.
- Proficient cash handling skills.
- Strong organization skill and detail oriented
- Experience in using database query for generating reports preferred.
- Problem solving, conflict resolution, team building, time management and self-motivational skills.
- Demonstrated ability to tactfully handle stressful situations, negotiate and resolve conflicts, maintain confidentiality and to respect and observe organizational protocol.
- Reliable and able to work flexible work schedule and adjust as required.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen.
