    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Behavioral Health Addiction Specialist identifies and manages patients with substance use problems by developing specific behavioral treatment plans and providing counseling and support services to individuals and families experiencing addiction.

    POSITION-SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assist primary health care providers in recognizing and treating substance abuse disorders.
    • Utilize evidence based tools to assess the status of patients referred
    • Lead groups substance use based groups and educational groups
    • Completes clinical documentation according to internal CDHC policies and procedures and in accordance with regulatory bodies, including but not limited to Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, Joint Commission, CMS, and Region 6.
    • Assist in the detection of at risk patients and the development of relapse plans to prevent further complications
    • Attend and participate in required meeting and activities
    • Abide by State and Federal guidelines as it pertains to code of ethics, code of conduct, billing submission and therapeutic relationships
    • Work diligently and professionally with internal and external partners
    • Actively work towards obtaining full LADC credential if provisional by meeting all state supervised requirements as outlined by NE DHHS.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications


    POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    • Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent required, Bachelor’s Degree preferred
    • Experience: At least four years of experience working closely with youth and families in a serving in a substance use treatment capacity preferred
    • Licensure: Provisional Alcohol and Drug Counselor required, Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor preferred.
    • Expertise: Working knowledge of evidence-based treatments for substance users. Some comfort in working with primary care medical providers using a consultative style.  Ability to learn and work through brief patient contacts either in person, telephonic or telehealth visits..  Ability to learn to design and implement clinical pathways and protocols for treatment of selected substance use diagnosis with supervision if needed.  Ability to work effectively as a team, interfacing with patients, primary care providers and administrative and support staff.  Ability to effectively represent CDHC’s interests in the community and maintain effective working relationships among co-workers, public, private, and professional groups.  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Comfortable with use of computer operating systems (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and the Electronic Health Record System.
    • Language: English
    • Work Hours: Typically, Monday – Friday between the hours of 8:00am – 6:00pm, evenings and Saturdays as needed and scheduled in advance.
    • Travel: Locally, intrastate, and interstate, as necessary
    • Exposure: The exposure characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this position.  For example, while performing the essential functions of this job, the employee rarely is exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.  Additionally, the employee may occasionally be exposed to blood borne and other hazardous chemicals.  Finally, the noise level in the work environment can occasionally be quite loud.  In all cases personal protective equipment will be provided to the employee in combination with adequate ventilation and other engineering controls to minimize the risk of exposure or other hazardous occurrence.
