Addiction Mental Health Assessor conducts initial and ongoing assessments of patients in Alcohol and Drug (AoD) addiction programs to determine mental health needs and establish care requirements. Provides initial treatment and refers clients to appropriate agencies/providers as needed. Being an Addiction Mental Health Assessor works with patients and families to develop appropriate chemical dependency service plans. Complies with standards in the area of evaluation, assessment, treatment, and service delivery to clients. Additionally, Addiction Mental Health Assessor requires certification as a Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) or similar. Typically requires a bachelor's degree. May require a state license to practice. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Addiction Mental Health Assessor's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Overview:
New Approaches Mental Health Services (NAMHS) is seeking full-time and part-time Mental Health Professionals/ Mental Health Specialists to work with clients and their families in Iberia, St. Martin, St. Landry, Lafayette, St. Mary, and Vermilion Parishes. MHPs/MHSs work with clients providing psychosocial rehabilitation and therapy relating to the client's diagnosis. Potential candidates must be driven, able to work independently, flexible, willing to work evenings and weekends, and willing to travel. A Masters or Bachelors degree in Psychology, Sociology, Counseling, or Social Work is required. RELIABLE transportation is required for this position. Must be able to pass background check and drug test.

Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a hospital or mental health setting is preferred
- Knowledge of direct support techniques for individuals with mental health challenges
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information
- Experience working with children is a plus
- Ability to effectively communicate and build rapport with patients from diverse backgrounds
