Adjustment Clerk reviews and follows up on customer complaints regarding account balances and uncredited items. Analyzes associated documents and makes necessary adjustments to accounts and/or recommendations to resolve customer issues. Being an Adjustment Clerk communicates results of findings to customer. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Adjustment Clerk typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Adjustment Clerk possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. This is a technical clerical position in the Clerk’s Office. Duties require technical expertise in aspects of court operations, especially where the consequences of clerical error would be very significant. This position needs to know all case types in our office. Case processing is at is most important level. Outside training and travel to other court sites is required. Work is performed at the direction of the County Clerk or Chief Deputy Clerk.
EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

1. Data entry of all civil, criminal, domestic, mental illness, adoption, and judgment documents.
2. Attend all court proceedings.
3. Administer oaths.
4. Track exhibits.
5. Process orders of the court.
6. Prepare court calendars.
7. Assist in training Clerks I, II and III position.
8. Responsible for all computer training and related correspondence with OAC.
9. Perform other duties as directed by the County Clerk, Chief Deputy or Judges when in their courtrooms.
10. Assist public at the counter and on phones.
11. Accurate minutes of court proceedings.
12. Issue warrants.
13. Fingerprint convicted felons.
14. Issue subpoenas, notices of hearing, writs, criminal commitments, attachments, and other legal documents issued by this Court.
15. Coordinate jury trials.
16. Prepare case files for court sessions.
17. Checking all documents in file before taking to court.
18. Clerk’s dismissals.
19. Data entry of all juvenile documents.
20. Attend all juvenile court hearings.
21. Process all juvenile documents as if a Clerk I.
22. Prepare all juvenile appeals.
23. Track all juvenile exhibits.
Performs all duties of a Juvenile Court AdministratorKNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of: Considerable knowledge of the operation of the superior courts and case processing activity. Knowledge of modern office practices. Supervisory techniques. Efficient utilization of personnel, equipment and supplies. Keeping up with office procedures. Commonly used office equipment, arithmetic, rules of spelling and very neat handwriting.
Ability to: Work independently and in a high-pressure work environment, make consequential work decisions in accordance with laws and regulations of the State of Washington and County Clerk policies and procedures. Express ideas clearly and concisely, orally and in writing. Skill in the operation of all equipment used in the Clerk’s operation. Train, plan, assign, and supervise subordinates, maintain effective public relations skills, understand complicated oral and written instructions, schedule and monitor a variety of clerical projects. Learn and retain complex procedures. Must maintain neat and personal appearance and courteous attitude toward the public and fellow employees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school graduation or equivalent, and 6 years progressively more responsible experience in a courtroom setting, including one year data entry experience. Or, a combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge and abilities as stated above. Typing 60 words per minute accurately and occupational level computer/terminal operation. Must be cleared through a criminal justice background check.
