You will be an invaluable asset to the division by directly supporting payroll, purchasing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, travel, and contract/bid coordination.  Your experience with timely budget estimate data review, Workday, Wincam, LEAN processes, and supervision will be utilized daily. Your work here will help ensure critical financial oversight and administration are maintained for the County’s infrastructure projects.

    How to be Successful in the Role: 
    In this customer centered role, you will be doing supervisory work leading the team on budget data, internal process projects, and administrative support efforts as well as utilizing software to include Workday, Wincam, and the Microsoft 365 suite. You will work daily with other Pierce County teams requiring strong skills in leadership, organization, communication, planning, and data analysis. Due to the critical nature of the position, there may be support needed on a 24/7 basis.

    Core Daily Responsibilities:
    • Manage and oversee the daily administrative operations of a small department or division of a large department.
    • Supervise and coordinate activities of a designated unit; determine work procedures, prepare work schedules and determine methods for expediting workflow.
    • Assign, review and approve the work of subordinate staff; investigate grievances involving subordinates and recommend resolution; recommend hiring, promotional and disciplinary actions; approve leave requests and overtime; provide adequate coverage during staff absences.
    • Conduct performance evaluations and develop performance measures and standards.
    • Ensure consistent interpretation and application of laws, rules, policies and procedures.
    • Maintain effective communication with county departments and staff to facilitate and ensure adherence to policies and procedures.
    • Assist in developing and implementing operating procedures consistent with regulations controlling departmental activities; develop and prepare training manuals and facilitate training to ensure consistent and proper procedures are followed.

    • Graduation from a four-year college or university with a degree in business or public administration or a related field, AND
    • Two or more years of experience in an administrative position requiring budgetary and personnel skills.
    • Additional education or experience may substitute equally for the position requirements.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • One or more years of supervisory experience.
    • Experience in Wincam and Workday.
    • Strong Analytical and Data Review Skills
