    NWS_Student Admissions Representative

    GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION:

    Provides administrative support to the Office of Admissions as an undergraduate office student representative. The student worker will give campus tours to prospective families, share their experience as a student at Pacific as well as general office work to help with recruitment. Provides necessary support for other sessions as a current student representative. This application is open for current Pacific students in the undergraduate, Forest Grove campus.


    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Perform general office duties including typing, filing, answering phones, performing data entry, and mailing, addressing, covering front desk
    • Enter prospect info into University database
    • Assist counselor in preparing for travel including shipment of recruitment materials, confirming visits, etc.
    • Give tours to prospective students and families, help with admissions events, talk to prospective families. Note: tours will be a large component of this job
    • Contact prospective students via phone to discuss their college selection process, visit dates, and promote Pacific University
    • Assists with other recruitment events such as attending virtual college fairs and high school visits
    • Enter changes to prospective student information based on phone conversations
    • Understanding that student workers will often time be the first-ever human interaction prospective families will have via phone, in-person or email. Student workers will be expected to be “Pacific Positive” during all events or any type of communication
    • Welcoming and greeting students and families, approaching incoming families first and sometimes just striking up a conversation are some of the duties
    • Students will be expected to get all assigned tasks done when they are scheduled to work
    • Tasks are assigned according to office need, not preference. This means understanding there are many “moving parts” and strategies that counselors are following. It is imperative these tasks are completed when assigned, not skipped over for other preferential tasks
    • Other duties as assigned

    • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work in a team-orientated environment, and interact with the public.
    • Ability to clearly express ideas orally and with a positive attitude
    • Uses professional manner and phone etiquette when contacting families.
    • All student workers will be expected to be trained, able and willing to complete the all the tasks and jobs assigned to them.
    • Be professional in appearance, conduct, and overall performance.
    • Must possess the ability to walk and talk at length with prospective families with a positive attitude

      WORKING CONDITIONS:
    • General office environment as well as light outdoor activities
    • Must possess the ability to be flexible, handle multiple-tasks concurrently, and be able to prioritize and organize work duties.
