Job description
The Admitting Receptionist serves as facility telephone operator. Greets patients and assists with necessary admitting paperwork. This role reports to the Business Office Manager, Administrator, and Medical Director.
Position Summary: This position is responsible for incoming cash, checks, and credit card receipts until delivered to billing as well as cash in the change box.

Essential Functions:
Essential functions include but are not limited to the following:
a) Serves as telephone operator for facility; routes incoming calls correctly and takes accurate messages when unable to connect caller to requested party
b) Receives and distributes some special deliveries
c) Greets and checks in patients; provides necessary paperwork for completion; pre-registers if necessary
d) Notifies appropriate nursing staff that patient is present after patient has completed paperwork
e) Keeps track of patient’s family, patient’s driver, etc.
f) Prints out all labels, forms, etc., for patient charts and assembles charts before and after appointment; files charts when they are finished
g) Performs other miscellaneous office/clerical duties as needed
h) Issues appropriate duplicate receipts when receiving payments by cash or check directly from patients
i) Verifies credit cards if used and issues appropriate duplicate receipts
j) Gives payments –cash, checks and original credit card slips to billing
k) Prepare charts for staff and physicians; checks for missing information and signatures
l) Responsible for getting H & P’s in chart before appointment
m) Ensures that all PHI is secured per HIPAA regulations
n) Maintains a clean and clutter free environment at the front desk, patient waiting area, and storage areas
o) Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers
p) Interacts with others in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner
