Admitting Supervisor supervises the day-to-day patient admissions and access operations and staff responsible for required registration, and patient intake processes. Follows standardized processes for admission procedures to ensure accurate data collection, a positive patient experience, and effective coordination between clinical and administrative teams. Being an Admitting Supervisor monitors operational metrics to improve processes, increase efficiency, or correct problems. Prepares staff work schedules to ensure coverage and coordinate training and staff resources. Additionally, Admitting Supervisor follows all established policies and standards to preserve patient confidentiality, ensure data security and comply with all applicable regulations. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Admitting Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Greets, directs, and assists patients and customers entering the Emergency Department through the emergency entrance. They will be able to recognize life threatening and urgent presentations of patients arriving ambulatory to the intake window and will perform intake of key data elements including name, date of birth, chief complaint and physician to initiate the registration process in Meditech and MedHost. Additionally, the Intake Coordinator will assume responsibilities related to Patient Access functions including Registration, Insurance Verification, Co-pay collection and financial counseling. Customer service and communication skills must reflect delivering excellence standards.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Required Experience: Two to five experience required
Licensure/Certification/Registration: BLS certification
