We provide a safe and secure working environment for our staff while helping an at-risk population receive the treatment necessary for success on their road back to a healthy, productive life.

    Essential Duties

    • Ensure grievance forms are readily available to all offenders.
    • Create, plan and coordinate grievance function for assigned facilities.
    • Travel to all assigned facilities is required.
    • Collect all grievances (Step 1 and 2) from the offender population each workday, to include collecting grievances from offenders housed in special housing unit.
    • Ensure all grievances are reviewed for emergency issues and proper submission criteria.
    • Ensure all grievances are reviewed, coded and logged into the grievance case tracking system on the date of receipt.
    • Immediately process any grievance that contains a complaint about matters for which disposition within regular time limits would subject the grieving offender to a substantial risk of personal injury or cause other serious or irreparable harm.
    • Assist offenders with the submission of grievances and appeals when requested by an offender.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's Degree from a college or university accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or by the United States Department of Education (USDE). Major course work in Criminal Justice, Behavioral Science, or a related field preferred. Each year of full-time, wage-earning criminal justice experience may be substituted for thirty (30) semester hours from an accredited college or university on a year-for-year basis.
    • A valid driver’s license in the state of Texas with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
    • Must successfully complete annual background checks and in-service training requirements, both of which must be approved by the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ).
