Job Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team as an Agriculturally-Focused Bookkeeper and Payroll Clerk. This is a staffing position within the Pennyroyal Farm Analysis Group. PFAG serves farmers in Christian and surrounding counties through the preparation of farm records and farm management guidance. The advertised position is in Hopkinsville, KY and is a support position to the three Farm Management Specialists within the office.
Duties:
· Retroactive payroll tax liability calculation from farmer provided statements. This includes Federal, Kentucky, Local, and unemployment tax liabilities, and may include Kentucky Sales tax liabilities.
· Accurate bookkeeping of farmer records with QuickBooks. This involves inputting information gathered from bank statements, credit card statements, and loan statements. Accurate bookkeeping of these records may also include contacting the client to resolve questions or provide information.
· Year-end payroll and tax form preparation. These preparations include processing of client W2s, 1099s, federal 943 and 940, as well as state and local payroll forms.
· Administrative assistance to three Farm Management Specialists. Assistance to specialists will primarily include printing and assembly of financial records prepared by specialists. Further assistance includes scheduling, phone attention, scanning, copying, and other general office tasks.
· Other office duties as needed. These duties may include ordering, billing, mailing, etc.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in payroll processing or related accounting role
- Strong computer skills, especially QuickBooks and MS Office applications
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
