    PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

    Position Description:

    To provide leadership and coordination for all students enrolled in agricultural education courses in middle and high school programs. To focus on excellence in classroom/laboratory instruction, supervised agricultural education experience and FFA student organization activities.

    Position Purpose:

    To provide students with the opportunity to explore hundreds of career options available in agriculture and to assist them in planning for a future career; to train students with the technical skills needed to be successful in an agricultural career; to connect students with the real world of work through rigorous and relevant hands-on learning experiences and supervised agricultural experience programs; to offer students leadership and personal development training needed to succeed in a career including, but not limited to teamwork, problem-solving, analysis and communications; to enable students to compete in the global economy by increasing international understanding; to empower students through community development projects that involve students, parents, business leaders, civic organizations, school leaders and other stakeholders.

    Position Responsibilities:
    1. Provide an instructional program that meets the needs of students and the agricultural industry.
    2. Coordinate and supervise the development and growth of every student through an active supervised agricultural experience (SAE) program.
    3. Coordinate a strong FFA chapter that is integral to the instructional program in which all agricultural education students are active members.
    4. Maintain an active advisory committee and community support/alumni group.
    5. Develop strong, positive relationships with key agricultural education partners including, but not limited to the guidance counselor(s), principal, superintendent, career technical education director, county extension service leaders, agribusiness leaders, parents and other teachers.
    6. Develop a year-round calendar of activities that is approved by local school administrators. The calendar should include: SAE visits and FFA activities that relate to the instructional program, professional development opportunities, agribusiness visits, etc.
    7. Join and be actively involved in various professional and civic organizations to ensure personal and professional growth.
    8. Develop and maintain a library of educational resources, textbooks, curriculum guides and other related resources to enhance performance as a teacher.
    9. Provide career guidance for students interested in career opportunities in agriculture.
    10. Develop strong marketing, recruitment, retention and public relations effort for encouraging all students to consider enrolling in agricultural education and joining FFA.
    11. Share student and program achievements with the local media, parents, school administrators, and other stakeholders.
    12. Maintain an accurate inventory of equipment and supplies for the agricultural education department.
    13. Ensure that all federal and state safety standards are met in the agricultural education facility.
    14. Carry out any summer program responsibilities.
    15. Complete required amount of professional development hours.
    16. Perform any other duties assigned by Principal.
    17. Adheres to the Processional Code of Ethics.


    EVALUATION:

    Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.

    TITLE: High School Classroom Teacher

    QUALIFICATIONS: Valid Kentucky Certification

    REPORTS TO: Principal

    PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

    1. All teachers are employed for the purpose of teaching children. The Board of Education requires the teachers accept the children where they are and advance them in their educational life for the time that they have them.
    2. The school day shall be fifteen minutes before the official opening of school and fifteen minutes after the closing of school, with the exception of those teachers assigned to early and late bus duty unless otherwise determined by the Principal.
    3. It shall be the duty of all teachers to keep accurate records of lesson plans, student grades, reports to parents, attendance, inventories and other such reports deemed necessary by the building principal.
    4. Maintains at all time an orderly learning atmosphere and keeps the Principal fully informed of the general education program's activities and problems.
    5. Employs a variety of instructional techniques with the priority of teaching basic academic skills.
    6. Utilizes a variety of instructional materials and available multimedia and computer technology to enhance learning.
    7. Manages allotted learning time to maximize student achievement.
    8. Teaches the adopted county and school curriculum as established by the State Department of Education, the Board of Education, and the school's SBDM Council.
    9. Develops lesson plans, instructional materials, appropriate tasks, and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the individual needs of each pupil.
    10. Takes an active part in the professional development of the school and the district and completes the required amount of Professional Development hours.
    11. Assists in the selection of books, software, equipment, and other instructional materials, and keeps abreast of new trends and research in education reform.
    12. Works cooperatively with the administration, other teachers, support personnel, and the SBDM Council in planning instructional goals, objectives, methods, and evaluation.
    13. Assists special education teachers, Title I teachers, gifted education teachers, and other teachers/coordinators in the identification process of students for placement in the various supplemental educational programs.
    14. Strives constantly to determine if factors that contribute to low academic performance are present, and makes any necessary referrals for specialized help or services to various agencies.
    15. Counsels and evaluates students by providing guidance to pupils which will promote their welfare, self-esteem, and educational development.
    16. Evaluates student progress on a regular basis and maintains appropriate assessment and evaluation documentation for district, school, and individual reporting purposes.
    17. Administers group standardized tests in accordance with the district's testing program.
    18. Utilizes teaching strategies which incorporate activities that will enhance performance events and open-response assessments.
    19. Continually communicates with students on instructional expectations and keeps them informed of their progress in meeting those expectations.
    20. Communicates with parents through conferences and other means to discuss pupil's progress and interpret the school's program.
    21. Makes provisions for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes including, under reasonable terms, time outside the instructional day.
    22. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life (Code of Acceptable Behavior & Discipline), develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
    23. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
    24. Maintains proper inventories of non-expendable school supplies, materials, and equipment assigned to the classroom.
    25. Shares duties of the school as assigned by the Principal, and supervise pupils in out-of-classroom activities during the assigned working day.
    26. Participates in school-based decision making, including electing teacher Council representatives, serving on the Council, and/or providing input and feedback on all matters relating to the operation of the school in his/her building.
    27. Supports or participates in school-wide student activities and social events and approved fund-raising activities is applicable.
    28. Attends all regular and special called faculty meetings, unless excused by the Principal, and serves on staff committees as required.
    29. Ensure that student records and information are kept confidential.
    30. Refrain from making any public comment about any student that might be considered critical or derogatory.
    31. Always maintain the highest professional standards in personal conduct.
    32. Adheres to policies/procedures in the Employee Handbook.
    33. Performs related duties and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.
    34. Adheres to the Professional Code of Ethics.
