Aircraft Electrician jobs in Galveston, TX

Aircraft Electrician performs preventative and non-routine maintenance and inspections of aircraft avionics and electrical systems. Uses manufacturer's reference documents, diagrams, and best practices to troubleshoot problems, identify the correct solutions and replace or repair components and parts. Being an Aircraft Electrician conducts quality testing, verification procedures, and required documentation of all completed work. Ensures compliance with all FAA maintenance regulations and requirements. Additionally, Aircraft Electrician typically requires an associate degree in aviation electronics, avionics or equivalent. Requires Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Aircraft Electrician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.     The Position:

    We are looking for positive, energetic electricians with a wide variety of abilities to complement our experienced workforce.  Applicants should have the ability to:

    • Fabricate and install rigid, aluminum, E.M.T., plasti-bond and P.V.C. conduit
    • Must have the ability to use mechanical and 2” – 4” hydraulic benders
    • Must be able to fabricate and install conduit supports
    • Must have the ability to install wire and cable by either hand or machine in cable trays
    • Must perform MCC and switchgear work
    • Must be able to perform troubleshooting on energized motor controls
    • Can fabricate and install breakers and fuses, cable trays, batteries, battery charger, buss duct, junction boxes, tagging, term, motors, and transformers
    • Can size thermal-overloads, breakers, and fuses
    • Able to terminate motors, transformers, stress cones and cable splicing
    • Understand the proper use of hydraulic tools
    • Can read blueprints and national electric code requirements
    • Knowledgeable in the use of electrical equipment testers including V.O.M., AMP meter and 1000-volt insulation tester
    • Knowledgeable in communication and applicable electrical OSHA rules and regulations

    Requirements:

    • TWIC card - (Transportation Worker Identification Credential); Go to TWIC website for more information
    • Ability to meet the cut score on the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Skill Assessment.
    • Ability to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug/alcohol test and applicable background checks.
    • Minimum 4 years craft-specific experience.
