Aircraft Electrician performs preventative and non-routine maintenance and inspections of aircraft avionics and electrical systems. Uses manufacturer's reference documents, diagrams, and best practices to troubleshoot problems, identify the correct solutions and replace or repair components and parts. Being an Aircraft Electrician conducts quality testing, verification procedures, and required documentation of all completed work. Ensures compliance with all FAA maintenance regulations and requirements. Additionally, Aircraft Electrician typically requires an associate degree in aviation electronics, avionics or equivalent. Requires Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Aircraft Electrician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. Must have strong schematic reading skills for functionally & installations as well as troubleshooting skills on various types of manufacturing high speed automated equipment. Must be able to setup, troubleshoot and install AC/DC drives, motors control circuits and Allen Bradley PLC's. Must have working knowledge of high voltage, switch gears & Sub-Station equipment. Able to operate digital test equipment such as oscilloscopes, function generators, DMM's and analyzers/data loggers. Must be able to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair equipment and process. Must be able to execute and improve asset strategies and help to evaluate, develop and execute preventative maintenance (PM) routes, make recommendations on spare parts strategies and be able to develop and execute focused improvement plans during outage opportunities. Must have high value and displaying a sense of urgency to complete projects and tasks with minimal guidance
Qualifications:
Employee must a Maintenance Electrical Journeyman or Electrical Technician equivalent or a two (2) year degree, NFPA 70E Training. Must have three (3) or more years of experience troubleshooting process equipment in industrial maintenance and/or manufacturing operations. Must be able to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed. Perform duties assigned by supervisor.
