Aircraft Electrician performs preventative and non-routine maintenance and inspections of aircraft avionics and electrical systems. Uses manufacturer's reference documents, diagrams, and best practices to troubleshoot problems, identify the correct solutions and replace or repair components and parts. Being an Aircraft Electrician conducts quality testing, verification procedures, and required documentation of all completed work. Ensures compliance with all FAA maintenance regulations and requirements. Additionally, Aircraft Electrician typically requires an associate degree in aviation electronics, avionics or equivalent. Requires Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Aircraft Electrician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job.     Job Summary:  

    This position is responsible for installing and repairing complex electrical control, wiring, and lighting systems working from a technical blueprint. To perform in this role, you need an electrician degree from a technical college and experience in the field working on simple and complex electrical systems. 

    Requirements

    Responsibilities: 

    • Installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical control, wiring, and lighting systems. 
    • Reading technical diagrams and blueprints. 
    • Performing general electrical maintenance. 
    • Inspecting transformers, circuit breakers, and other electrical components. 
    • Troubleshooting electrical issues using appropriate testing devices. 
    • Repairing and replacing equipment, electrical wiring, and fixtures. 
    • Following National Electrical Code state and local building regulations. 
    • Performing circuit breaker corrective maintenance. 
    • Maintaining good knowledge of heating and air conditioning systems as well as various testing equipment. 
    • Oversees and supervises the quality of work for other employees to ensure that all tasks are performed correctly, efficiently, and effectively. 
    • Manages and reviews service contracts. 
    • Conducts and documents regular facilities inspections. 
    • Checks completed work by vendors and contractors. 
    • Recommends maintenance, mechanical, electrical, and facility design modifications. 
    • Communicates workplace safety precautions to employees. 
    • Forecasts, allocates, and supervises the financial and physical resources of the facility management. 
    • Oversees building and grounds maintenance. 
    • Operates and maintains custodial functions. 
    • Ensures security and emergency preparedness procedures are implemented properly. 
    • Ensures that the facility is clean and maintained according to company policy and procedures. 
    • Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics. 
    • Monitors compliance with safety procedures. 
    • Drafts inspection reports to document inspection findings. 
    • Ensures that material safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed. 
    • Inspects the facility to identify safety, health, and environmental risks. 


    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Competencies: 

    • Hands-on experience with modeling, analysis and simulations tools. 
    • In-depth understanding of strategic business goals and objectives. 
    • In-depth understanding of demand and supply planning. 
    • Moderate understanding of financial planning. 
    • Proven experience in process definition and implementation, as well as in change management. 
    • Proven ability to communicate with people at all levels, ranging from factory schedulers to high-level executives. 
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to effectively communicate to technical and nontechnical audiences. 
    • Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, as well as strong skills as a negotiator to reach consensus, buy-in and commitment.  
    • Ability to build relationships with key internal and external customers based on trust and confidence. 
    • Deep understanding of technology enablement and current technology tools. 
    • Knowledge of data gathering, and quantitative and qualitative data analysis, including business process metrics and measures linking to business KPIs. 
    • Ability to translate business goals and metrics into business process outcomes and related business cases for specific projects. 
    • Mathematical/statistical abilities. 


    Minimum Requirements:  

    • Electrician degree from a technical college and completion of electrician apprenticeship. 
    • Deep electrical system, power generation, blueprints, maintenance, and repair knowledge. 


    Physical Requirements:  

    • Regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.? 
    • Occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.? 
    • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.? 
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.? 
    • Occasionally work near moving mechanical parts.? 
    • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.?? 
    • Must be able to navigate various departments of the organization’s physical premises.?
