Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor supervises the maintenance operations of aircraft airframes and engines to ensure safe and reliable performance. Oversees routine servicing and preventative maintenance to optimize the lifetime of aircraft airframe and engine components according to internal procedures, guidelines, and technical handbooks. Being an Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor evaluates technical requirements to determine the tradeoffs between the repair versus the replacement of components and the effect on cost and safety. Implements policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all federal aviation regulations, standards, and specifications. Additionally, Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor informs and trains aircraft mechanics on current information from manufacturers and regulatory bodies. Coordinates and schedules inspections and follow-up tasks to ensure timely completion. Requires a high school diploma. Requires FAA Airframe (A) and Powerplant (P) Mechanic License. Typically reports to a manager. What You Will Do:
Ensure research aircraft are ready for deployment, current on all required maintenance activities.
Sourcing, scheduling, and coordinating scheduled and unscheduled maintenance for aircraft in the field. Coordinating these events with the needs and timelines of the flight operations team.
Vetting of third-party maintenance facilities
Will be readily available for maintenance related questions and conversations with pilots in the field.
Readily available for time sensitive maintenance scheduling and coordination for urgent AOG situations
Frequent communication with the flight operations team as to understand travel and project needs and scheduling.
Record Keeping and time tracking for fleet; to include but not limited to inspection program compliance, AD, and mandatory SB compliance, TBO and engine overhaul tracking and coordination.
Collecting and analyzing aircraft usage costs
Development of efficient and effective aircraft inspection programs
Development of standardized maintenance procedures and protocols
Coordination and meetings with clients to discuss Scientific Aviation's maintenance practices
Aircraft modification and STC research and compliance in relation to science equipment installations
Minimum Qualifications: (required)
Valid A&P IA Certificate
3 years of experience in General Aviation aircraft maintenance
Extensive knowledge and understanding of FARs
Preferred Qualifications:
Commercial pilot license with instrument rating
Supervisory or lead mechanic experience.
G1000 related maintenance experience
Experience with Mooney and Cessna aircraft
Physical Demands:
This role is deemed safety-sensitive and will be subject to employer or customer drug testing.
Ability to travel to aircraft base of operation or a field if necessary.
Certifications:
Valid A & P Certificate with inspector authorization
