Aircraft Mechanic Assistant maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots aircraft components to ensure safe and reliable performance. Conducts routine servicing to optimize the lifetime of aircraft airframe and engine components according to internal procedures, guidelines, and technical handbooks. Being an Aircraft Mechanic Assistant utilizes a variety of tools and equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues and determine malfunctioning parts of aircraft engines and assemblies. Follows company protocols to maintain safety, cleanliness, and organization within the hangar or workshop. Additionally, Aircraft Mechanic Assistant recommends part changes or adjustments to ensure compliance with all federal aviation regulations, standards, and specifications. Maintains accurate records of services and procedures performed and documents and reports issues, concerns, and unusual wear or damage of parts. Requires a high school diploma. Requires FAA Airframe (A) and Powerplant (P) Mechanic License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Aircraft Mechanic Assistant works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. - Preventative maintenance of aircraft
- Line maintenance and repair
- Scheduled inspection of aircraft
- Replacing worn or damaged components, including turbine engine changes
- Basic mechanical and electrical troubleshooting
- Repairing, replacing, and rebuilding aircraft structures, including repairs involving aircraft sheet metal
QualificationsQualifications include:- Must have A & P License
- Must have 2 years' experience as an A&P, with recent turboprop aircraft
- Preference given to Beech 1900 or King Air experience
- Knowledgeable of basic fixed wing aircraft maintenance
- Ability to locate and follow maintenance manual directions and component manuals
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word
- Must pass background check and pre-employment drug screen
- Must have High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
Working conditionsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, toxic chemicals, and heat. Work for this position is performed outside, regardless of weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.CompensationThis position is a Full-Time position, 35-40 hours per week.
