Airframe and Engine Mechanic maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots aircraft components to ensure safe and reliable performance. Conducts routine servicing to optimize the lifetime of aircraft airframe and engine components according to internal procedures, guidelines, and technical handbooks. Being an Airframe and Engine Mechanic utilizes a variety of tools and equipment to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues and determine malfunctioning parts of aircraft engines and assemblies. Follows company protocols to maintain safety, cleanliness, and organization within the hangar or workshop. Additionally, Airframe and Engine Mechanic recommends part changes or adjustments to ensure compliance with all federal aviation regulations, standards, and specifications. Maintains accurate records of services and procedures performed and documents and reports issues, concerns, and unusual wear or damage of parts. Requires a high school diploma. Requires FAA Airframe (A) and Powerplant (P) Mechanic License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Airframe and Engine Mechanic works under moderate supervision.     Description

    At United, we are looking for an exceptional individual to join our team as the Director of Procurement for Airframe and Engine Parts. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a world-class airline that is on a mission to become the best in the industry. This role will provide strategic and operational oversight for a comprehensive, best-in-class Airframe and Engine Components and Maintenance strategy including financial risk mitigating strategies to achieve lower long-term expense relative to industry peers and coordinates efficient sourcing for all of Tech Ops (Inclusive of Engines, components, and more).

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Develop and implement Airframe/Engine Components and Maintenance Procurement strategies to continuously improve the procurement process and capture total cost of ownership reductions.
    • Support the Airframe/Engine Parts Maintenance strategy, performance, and development by tracking insights generated by the Center of Excellence and adapting them to the organization's reality.
    • Lead governance activities, meetings with team, user areas, and organizational leadership to develop strong working relationships and drive procurement strategies that lower cost and risk.
    • Support strategic and transactional purchasing teams by offering guidance in all RFx processes, and implementing sourcing standard methodologies like the total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis framework. Equivalent experience will also be considered in addition to educational requirements.
    • Track and evaluate team's performance, attract, develop, and retain talent in the department.
    • Remain abreast of internal and external factors affecting products and services and develop recommendations for leaders to act on.
    • Lead all aspects of day-to-day operations including effectively operationalizing the negotiated contracts and ensuring any issues are properly addressed.

    Qualifications

    What's needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
    • Bachelor's degree; Master's preferred.
    • 7 years of relevant experience with at least 3 years of management experience in sourcing roles.
    • Successful track record in procurement, ideally within Airframe Parts / Engine Parts Procurement
    • Strong understanding of the category industry, processes, and products.
    • Experience in understanding, managing, and communicating large data sets.
    • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong organizational and change-management skills.
    • Extensive negotiation skills.
    • Strong proficiency in written and executive communication.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, including leadership experience for geographically separated teams.
