Airport Engineer plans, designs and lays out airports and landing fields. Oversees the construction work involved in leveling fields, laying out and surfacing runways. Being an Airport Engineer requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and 2-4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Additionally, Airport Engineer relies on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.   • Position Summary

    Under the supervision of the airport manager, the Airport Attendant I is a non-exempt position. The employee in this position provides service to pilots, aircraft owners, and the general public. The Airport Attendant I maintains all airport grounds, buildings, and equipment.

    Examples of Work (Essential Functions)

    • Directs the parking of aircraft;
    • Services aircraft with fuel, oil and lubricants;
    • Moves aircraft in and out of hangers;
    • Moves and ties down aircraft;
    • Collects money for services and products;
    • Makes repairs to equipment;
    • Records information on vehicle and equipment maintenance;
    • Performs ground maintenance such as mowing and trimming turf, landscaping, and making repairs to fences;
    • Removes snow from runways, taxiways, ramps, parking lot, and sidewalks;
    • Operates fuel trucks, tractor, mower, snow blower, and dump truck; manual transmission
    • Paints and makes repairs to airport buildings;
    • Performs janitorial services at airport.
    • Utilizes word processing and spreadsheet skills to create and maintain various reports and spreadsheets.
    • Provide navigational and mechanical information to pilots.

    • Other related duties as deemed necessary.

    Airport Attendant I

    Position Requirements

    Experience: This is an entry level position and prior experience is not required. One year of airport operation and maintenance experience is preferred. Employee is expected to have acquired the necessary information and skills to perform the job reasonably well after one year in the position.

    Education: High school diploma or GED required. Valid Kansas driver’s license required.

    Skills: The ability to learn and understand Federal Aviation Regulations. The ability to learn airport equipment maintenance and construction. The ability to read charts, maps, graphs, and blueprints. The ability to learn and understand fuel and chemical safety handling procedures. Good oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. The ability to receive and follow oral and written instructions. The ability to operate tractors, ground tugs, generators, five ton truck, aircraft and asphalt heaters, electric and hand tools, and other related equipment with manual transmission. The ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel to create and maintain reports and spreadsheets.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $17.80 - $20.03 per hour

    Expected hours: 40 per week
