    Description

    The Alumni Relations Manager supports a comprehensive program to engage and encourage life-long relationships between Charlotte Latin School and its alumni. The Alumni Relations Manager plans and implements events, programs, and projects that strategically engage and provide tangible benefits, including giving with growing impact year over year to alumni, current students, and the School itself.

     

    This individual collaborates extensively with internal and external stakeholders to further all alumni fundraising initiatives, events, and communications. The Alumni Relations Manager will cultivate strong relationships with the School’s alumni to foster a robust culture of engagement and philanthropy. The position manages the operations of select alumni programs.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

     

    Alumni Programs and Events:

    • Promote alumni engagement and participation in existing alumni programs as volunteers and participants.

    • In conjunction with the Director of Alumni Relations and Giving, plan, manage, and execute all alumni annual and bi-annual programs and events.

     

    Alumni Communications:

    • Develop a coordinated alumni communications program in support of alumni engagement goals.

    • Communicate actively and effectively with alumni via Latin’s Alumni pages, social media, the Latin magazine, and the Latin Line e-newsletter.

    • Collaborate with Marketing & Communications on the design of print pieces, social media, and targeted emails

     

    Alumni Giving:

    • Collaborate with the Director of Alumni Relations and Giving and the Director of the Latin Fund to create strategies for increased giving to the Latin Fund.

      • Opportunities for giving include but are not limited to Fly Day, the Collins Cup challenge, the True Blue Giving Society, class agents and AGB members.

    • In partnership with colleagues in the Philanthropy Office, strategize on annual and capital fundraising initiatives.

     

    Volunteer and Mentor Program Management:

    • Identify and manage alumni volunteers including, but not limited to, Alumni Governing Board (AGB) and class agents.

    • Encourage mentorship and volunteer service throughout the alumni body.

    • Create and monitor a list of alumni candidates to participate in events such as graduation, school assemblies, and classroom speakers.

     

    Student Engagement:

    • Educate graduating students about their lifelong relationship with the school and the benefits of being part of the alumni body.

     

    Recognition Programs:

    • Manage the process of nominating, identifying, recognizing, and celebrating distinguished faculty through the three annual Inlustrate Orbem awards.

     

    Data Management:

    • Maintain, update, and verify accurate and complete alumni contact information in the alumni database and effectively track event and engagement data.

    Qualifications


    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree and 3 to 5 years of successful project or event management

    • Or a combination of equivalent experience, education, and training

    Skills

    • Best practices in volunteer management, marketing communications, email and social media marketing, direct mail, telephone solicitations, analysis, and donor relations.

    • Manage data and leverage the functionality of the CRM system/fundraising database.

    • Use data to support effective decision-making.

    • Understanding of the donor life cycle.

    • Read and analyze financial reports and prepare projections and revenue reports.

    • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, capable of building rapport and working effectively with board members, staff members, volunteers, consultants, donors, and prospects.

    • Superior verbal and written communication skills and the ability to relate to diverse individuals with varying abilities to give are essential.

    • Ability to communicate effectively and promptly.

    • Highly organized team player who can set and meet deadlines.

    • Energetic, self-motivated, flexible, and reliable.

    • Ability to multi-task and work independently in a small, hands-on work environment.

    • A team player with an attitude of service and the ability to motivate others.

    • Computer fluency in MS Office and web applications, and knowledge about the role of technology and electronic communication in fundraising.

    • Performs work with a constant awareness of improving processes necessary for positive growth.

    • Adheres to the highest level of professionalism.

    • Demonstrated commitment to intercultural competence with an appreciation for diverse perspectives, identities and lived experiences.

    • Ability to work nights and weekends.

    Working Conditions and Environment

    • Intermittently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 15 pounds.

    • Continuously see, sit, balance, grasp, and have repetitive use of arms, wrists, hands, and fingers; and some fine finger dexterity.

    • Frequently talk and hear.

    • Intermittently stand, stoop, bend, twist, crouch, kneel, crawl, walk, climb stairs and ladders, operate foot and hand controls, squeeze, and reach above shoulders.

    • Exposure to dust, chemicals, fumes, flammables, grease, dirt, stacked materials, electrical equipment, machinery, low to medium noise levels, and moderate indoor heat and cold temperatures.
