    Summary

    As a graduate of the Wolverine Pathways (WP) program, the WP Alumni Relations Fellow will serve as a key contributor and programming lead for Wolverine Pathways alumni relations efforts. Responsible for designing and executing alumni focused programming and professional support, the Fellow will coordinate volunteer opportunities and social functions to keep alumni connected to each other and to current WP scholars. The Fellow will also foster intergenerational professional learning, mentoring, and networking opportunities by leveraging the interests and commitments of University of Michigan (U-M) alumni and the ever-growing population of WP alumni. As the first point of contact for WP alumni within and beyond the U-M Ann Arbor campus, the Fellow will enhance WP's ability to remain connected to its graduates and track their progress and outcomes longitudinally. The Fellow will also have an opportunity to network and build relationships with representatives of local and national college access and success efforts to support the goals of Wolverine Pathways and their own professional development. The Fellow will otherwise assist WP in mounting programming for current scholars.

    Ideal candidates will possess a commitment to championing causes that serve low-income individuals and communities of color. Proven ability to work in a manner that respects differences in race, ethnicity, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, religion, ability, and socio-economic circumstance is also essential to this role. Fellows will have access to funds to facilitate their professional development and opportunities for personal and professional growth such as local conferences. The WP Fellowship is a one-year appointment with the opportunity to extend the appointment into a second year if staff performance and programming goals permit. It is an ideal position for college graduates seeking a purpose-driven professional opportunity between college and graduate/professional school.

    Housed within the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (ODEI), Wolverine Pathways seeks to confront the barriers that limit the college and career aspirations of highly motivated students from under-resourced communities. Toward this end, we provide free college preparatory enrichment and guidance for 7th through 12th grade students in Detroit, Southfield, Ypsilanti and 10th through 12th in Grand Rapids.     ODEI at the University of Michigan leads and supports university-wide initiatives focused on the recruitment of a diverse faculty, staff, and student body, while fostering an inclusive and equitable University community. Our office also engages surrounding communities in mission-focused, mutually beneficial partnerships.In support of this overarching effort, three units within our office - the Center for Educational Outreach (CEO), Office of Academic Multicultural Initiatives (OAMI), and Wolverine Pathways - all work closely with ODEI to further the strategic vision of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the University of Michigan.

    Responsibilities*

    • Oversee, plan, and implement alumni engagement strategies (in-person and virtually), alumni development and philanthropic giving, communications and outreach, volunteer opportunities, and events that support the Wolverine Pathways alumni network.
    • Create and maintain the membership of Wolverine Pathways alumni network - maintaining and updating alumni contact details and assisting in the tracking of alumni progress and outcomes,
    • Facilitate virtual and in-person sessions through innovative professional development and college transition efforts that focus on preparing WP alumni for life in college and beyond.
    • Assist with the planning and staffing of Wolverine Pathways virtual and in-person events for current WP scholars.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of Wolverine Pathways.

    Required Qualifications*

    • Bachelor's Degree; will also consider 2024 spring graduates
    • Prior successful completion of Wolverine Pathways program
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Experience managing multiple projects or responsibilities
    • Some experience with student or group facilitation and event planning
    • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
    • Possess an interest in college preparation and retention, and a desire to create a more equitable society

    Desired Qualifications*

    • Experience working with Excel and Google Sheets
    • Experience with student or professional outreach
    • Facility and interest in leveraging social media platforms for data gathering, communication, and networking
