Position Summary:

The Director of Youth Services reports to the COO and collaborates with the executive team to fulfill the organization's youth programming needs. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure organizational effectiveness by providing leadership in the development, implementation, and sustainability of the organization's programs and partnerships. This position focuses on the day-to-day management of the Kinship Center and oversight of the Youth Transformation Program. Additionally, the Director of Youth Services will address program challenges, offer strategic advice, and support the executive team in making informed decisions to advance the organization's mission.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

• Oversees the overall training and restorative, trauma informed, and clinical development of program operations including all program staff oversite, file audits, scheduling, program data oversight and reports, assessment of clinical and restorative practices training/services needs recommendations to programs and operations.
• Collaborate with the Director of Programs and Director of Peer Navigation to ensure alignment with Project Kinship’s values and mission, especially in supporting individuals impacted by incarceration, gangs, and violence.
• Leads program management activities for a high performing, cross functional program and across project teams.
• Accountable as the primary contact for program team related information and for obtaining and maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of the program scope, deliverables, timelines, status, and outcomes.
• Facilitates program related decision-making processes by working with the Program staff and Managers and staff for resolutions and clinical review as part of the supervision process.
• Leverages input from all critical functions to prepare detailed integrated development plans that maximize the value of the programs. Defines the program’s critical path with program teams to understand the associated risks and to ensure the programs meet their milestones on time and on budget.
• Manages program team meeting operations including planning agendas, scheduling meetings, preparing minutes, and following-up with team members on critical action items.
• Ensures program team activities and decisions are clearly communicated, documented, and archived.
• Fosters strong relationships and supports effective and impactful communications with management, team members and functional line managers in order to ensure active management of issues/risks/decisions/opportunities.
• Maintain open lines of communication with the organization’s leadership, program leads, and direct service staff.
• The Director of Youth will have a broad understanding of the Kinship Center and Youth Transformation Program as well as Schools Program priorities to provide community intervention/workshops, mental health services, substance use disorder treatment, restorative practices and diversion programs for individuals in the criminal justice system and or at for incarceration/suspension/expulsion; prepared to provide guidance and or direct support in housing-related assistance, case management, peer support, recovery services, life skills, job skills training and civil legal services, crisis intervention.
• Support the onboarding, training, and ongoing development of staff.
• Ensures that program budgets are consistent with program goals and funder expectations and supports preparing for annual budget review, modifications, and operationalizing with respective programs.
• Support Program leadership, including overseeing service outcomes, staffing patterns, and evaluation findings.
• Complete all reporting requirements as required by grant/contract and internal obligations.
• Assists with general administrative duties as needed.
• Attends meetings and training courses as required.
• Implement and enforce organizational policies, goals, objectives and procedures in conjunction with the Director of Peer Navigation and Culture, Executive Team and department managers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in the field of Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field required.
• Must possess a current, valid California license as a LCSW, LMFT, or LPCC, and able to practice independently at the highest level possible required.
• Prior behavioral health experience and a minimum of two years of licensure to provide CA BBS supervision to pre-licensed staff is required.
• Proof of education, licensure, and good standing with the CA BBS are required.
• Must complete a Live Scan Background Check.
• Must have a valid California Driver License and proof of auto insurance.
• Minimum of 3 years of leadership in management level positions in mental health services and/or several years in a lead position providing direct clinical, case management experience, and knowledge of rehabilitation philosophy, re-entry, working with youth and transitional aged youth, and trauma-informed best practices is preferred.

• Experience supervising and evaluating the work of professional and administrative personnel, balancing workload with staff resources, and delegating authority and responsibility.
• Experience in non-profit 501(c)3 certification, tax filing requirements, and financial reporting preferred.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding financial data and intellectual property.

The second background check will be conducted by Funders through our contracted vendors, after the candidate is hired with Project Kinship, in accordance with our contractual agreements. Pay: $80,000.00 - $88,000.00 per year
