Job Title: Project Engineer
Contract Length: 6-12 months
Location: Flagstaff, Arizona
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Expert Project Engineer will manage small, minor and major capital projects from end to end and all key components of major capital projects (concept, scope, cost, resources, funding, etc.) They maintain visibility to the design process and assure adherence to all established key components and project deliverables and directly manage overall project execution including construction and commissioning. The Expert Project Engineer will coordinate with the client as well as various other groups inside and outside of the organization.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :
1. Assist in development of pre-project approval documents including project charter, project management plan, project kick start, estimate and milestone schedule creation.
2. Monitor design progress and deliverables are met in adherence to established project key components.
3. Receive design details from design team with full understanding of project deliverables to coordinate bid package development and release for construction bidding and field execution.
4. Select contractors and contracting methods based on engineering ways of working methodology.
5. Direct and execute installation, construction and commissioning of assigned projects.
6. Manage adherence to project scope and secure approvals for all changes in projects based on engineering ways of working methodology.
7. Manage and control project budget providing cost forecasts and cash flow projections through development of project cost and status reports on at least a monthly basis or as requested by project stakeholders.
8. Manage and maintain project milestone schedules with integrated detailed scheduling as agreed upon in the project charter.
9. Provide construction management and plant startup assistance as needed to ensure successful project execution
10. Evaluate, select and issue contracts for construction firms through bidding and prequalification vetting processes.
11. Provide direct project management of assigned projects from end to end with minimal supervision from Department Manager.
Provide coaching to team members, project sponsors and stakeholder in change management as it relates to Engineering projects. Work with other Project management professionals within the Engineering Department to continuously improve the services rendered and the value of work executed.Participate in, and lead as required, initatives to standardize and institutionalize comprehensive project planning tools.
Education:
Minimum Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited University.
Experience (Years/Type):
Minimum 7 years experience. Requires experience in industrial manufacturing environments.
Skills: Scheduling software knowledge (P6 or Project), Cost Reporting and trending through project management tools and Microsoft Excel

Has technical responsibility for organizing, and executing work assignments. Plans and coordinates work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, and adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Requires exercise of judgment relative to budget and schedule, as well as analytical work. Maintains liaison with individuals and units within or outside his/her organization with responsibility for acting on technical matters pertaining to his/her field.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED (list decisions and actions for which the position receives direction):
Independently performs work assignments consistent with Engineering and the I&I Ways of Working and in accordance with the project/program deliverables. Will coordinate with project managers,
engineers, technicians, and others, to ensure successful project execution. Assignments will vary with minmal supervision from Senior or Principal Engineers or Department Manager.
FINANCIAL/STRATEGIC IMPACT (include data on budgets, sales, profit, assets, or other areas of importance):
Has full control of managing and maintaining project costs on assigned projects.
WORKING RELATIONSHIPS (State types of contacts, both inside and outside the company. Describe type of supervisions given and received.):
Works with project teams within Engineering, contacts at operating facilities throughout North America, Production Engineering, Divisional Management, the Technical Assistance Group (TAG), the PTC (R&D group), and Marketing. Also coordinates and reviews the work of outside consultants and contractors.
