Being an Anesthesia Technician washes and sterilizes re-usable equipment and reports malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel. Performs safety checks on anesthesia equipment and assists the Anesthesiologist as needed. Additionally, Anesthesia Technician may also be required to complete Anesthesia Technician trainee program. May require an associate degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Anesthesia Technician works under moderate supervision. Responsibilities:
- Prepare and set up anesthesia equipment and supplies for surgical procedures
- Assist with the positioning and securing of patients for anesthesia administration
- Monitor and maintain anesthesia equipment, ensuring proper functioning and cleanliness
- Assist with the administration of anesthesia under the direct supervision of an anesthesiologist or nurse anesthetist
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of anesthesia equipment
- Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, supplies used, and patient information
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes
- Adhere to aseptic technique and infection control protocols
- Assist with inventory control of anesthesia supplies and equipment
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of an accredited Anesthesia Technician program preferred
- Previous experience as an Anesthesia Technician or related healthcare role strongly preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology
- Familiarity with Epic or other electronic health record systems is a plus
- Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with the healthcare team
- Ability to maintain composure under pressure and respond quickly in critical situations
- Experience working in critical care or ICU settings is highly desirable
- Understanding of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) used in anesthesia procedures
