Kennel attendant is responsible for the day-to-day care of patients and boarders. This includes feeding, watering, cleaning, walking, bathing, and monitoring the well being of pets. It is essential that you have the ability and willingness to learn and the desire to provide gentle and compassionate care to all pets.
General knowledge & tasks include:
- Learning the range of services the practice provides and species it serves.
- Always be in position and prepared to work by the start of each scheduled shift.
- Kow and use standard medical & business abreviations.
- Cordially greet, educate, and communicate with clients.
- Have the physical strength and ability to stand for an entire shift , and be able to lift pets and items weighing over 30 pounds.
- Follow procedures for cleaning and disinfecting cages and runs.
- Maintain the hospital clean, inside & out.
- Take trash cans to the curb once a week.
- Ensure the proper function and maintenance of appliances and kennel equipment.
- Maintain an even, friendly demeanor while on the job and perform tasks efficiently.
Prior experience is a plus, not a requirement. San Dimas Animal Hospital is a teaching hospital that is willing and equipped to train the right candidate that is ready to thrive in this field.
