Animal Technician provides daily care for research animals of various species. Cleans and disinfects cages and equipment. Being an Animal Technician monitors the health and well being of the animals, maintains logs of animal diet, behavior, vital signs and other data. Follows standard operating procedures and all biosafety and animal welfare regulations. Additionally, Animal Technician may perform procedures to collect samples. May transport animals to and from laboratories. Requires a high school diploma. May require Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) certification from the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) or other certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Animal Technician works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Role Description
This is a part time on-site role located at ANIMAL EYE CONSULTANTS OF IOWA PLLC in Bettendorf, IA for a Veterinary Technician/Assistant. The Veterinary Technician/Assistant will be responsible for assisting the veterinarian in various aspects of animal eye care. This includes, but is not limited to, preparing patients for their examinations, collecting patient histories, venipuncture, placing IV catheters, monitoring anesthesia, running lab work, handling medical equipment, and providing general care and comfort to patients. Our practice is a fast paced environment where a technician can utilize the skills they have learned. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, compassionate, and have excellent communication skills. The hours we are hiring for are 8:30 to 3pm on Fridays. Hours may go past 3pm depending on the work day. We like to have employees train for at minimum 1 day a week at our Hiawatha location to get trained in surgery if possible.
