Animal Technician, Sr. provides daily care for research animals of various species. Cleans and disinfects cages and equipment. Being an Animal Technician, Sr. monitors the health and well being of the animals, maintains logs of animal diet, behavior, vital signs and other data. Follows standard operating procedures and all biosafety and animal welfare regulations. Additionally, Animal Technician, Sr. may perform procedures to collect samples. May transport animals to and from laboratories. Requires a high school diploma. May require Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) certification from the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) or other certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Animal Technician, Sr. works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Good Hope Animal Hospital is looking to add a compassionate and skilled Licensed Veterinary Technician to our team. This role requires flexibility for 2 to 3 Saturday shifts a month and and is a full time role.

    Licensed Veterinary Technician        
    Good Hope Animal Hospital in Mechanicsburg, PA     
    $14.00-$23.00 an hour based on experience, licensure and availability       
    WHAT YOU’LL DO       
    • Provide compassionate care to pet patients and their loved ones   
    • Keep accurate medical records in accordance with hospital policy   
    • Prepare and maintain the exam rooms and treatment areas   
    • Perform physical assessments and record your observations   
    • Keep furry friends calm and still during procedures (sometimes using chin scratches!)   
    • Prepare estimates for procedures and discuss financial commitments with clients   
    • Explain necessary follow-up and home care instructions   
    • Stock clinic treatment area and exam rooms, and inform inventory manager when supplies need to be ordered   
    • Assist the Veterinarian in medical, surgical, and dental procedures (be comfortable with blood draws; prepare patients for surgery; administer anesthesia; monitor patients during surgery and recovery; administer fluids)   
    • Care for all surgical materials and keep the operating room properly stocked and prepared for surgery

    REQUIREMENTS         
    • High school diploma or equivalent   
    • At least two years of prior veterinary technician experience 
    • Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT) or License (LVT) is preferred but not required
