JOB SUMMARY:
Plan, develop, and oversee the activities of the aquatics programs as well as supervise aquatics program staff, ensuring that the mission of The Salvation Army is a top priority in all areas and activities. Ensure that the aquatic programs are in compliance with established departmental policies and procedures. Ensure maintenance is scheduled for aquatics equipment including the pool, slide, splash park, and pool decks. Work closely with the supervisor in developing programs for the RJKCCC based upon ongoing needs assessment and business plan.
Supervisory Responsibilities (40%)
Plans, recruits, orients, and supervises the work of assigned staff and volunteers; trains and instructs employees in the proper methods and procedures; monitors work in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy, completeness, safety and compliance with established policies, National Kroc Standards, and procedures; conducts performance evaluations and provides hiring/firing recommendations.
Position will serve as a daytime, evening, or weekend manager for the entire facility along with the rest of the full-time professional staff. This includes “Manager on Duty” responsibilities.
Research, prepare and oversee/deliver in-service training sessions to maintain ongoing training, safety, education, and best practices.
Prepare staff schedules; utilizes the Ceridian system and checks for time card accuracy each pay period.
Ensure that staff is trained and scheduled to maintain cleanliness in the facility.
Program Development (40%)
Plan, develop, and oversee the activities of aquatics programs; ensures that programs include every age demographic.
Develop and maintain partnerships and communication with aquatics programs in the community. Coordinate relationships with leaders of those programs and the Kroc Center.
Create schedules and concepts for programs on a timely basis for use in marketing and distribution.
Create the event and program schedule to be included in program guide.
Facility Maintenance/Office Tasks (20%)
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the aquatics program and its facilities including the daily, monthly, and yearly maintenance of the aquatics area.
Establish and maintain an equipment check program. This program will include safety checks before and after each use.
Maintain a detailed inventory of all equipment and supplies.
Prepare a draft budget as it pertains to the aquatics program.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Serves as the primary Certified Pool Operator (CPO) for the Kroc Center. Manages, documents, and performs chemical treatments and monitors filtration of the pool on a daily basis. Notifies maintenance department if pool maintenance includes equipment repairs or maintenance repairs beyond CPO control. Properly disseminates issues and information of pool operations to Program Director and/or Kroc Director. Trains and regularly orients colleagues to appropriate measurements, aquatics requirements, challenges and concerns.
Other Responsibilities:
Prepare reports as assigned and maintain files as directed by the supervisor.
Implement the plans set forth by the supervisor in accordance with Salvation Army Policies and Procedures.
Be able to operate and generally maintain all office equipment. This would include, but is not limited to the copier, fax machine and computers.
Maintain a variety of internal and external contacts and work cooperatively with superior and subordinate staff - Interact professionally in all contact with the public, staff, and Salvation Army Officers.
Abide by Salvation Army Policies and Procedures and have an acceptance of Salvation Army mission.
Maintain a professional attitude and approach to problem solving.
Provide recommendations for improving productivity and efficiency of work.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Possess a good understanding of current laws in regards to aquatics programs and keep current with new changes that will affect the aquatics program.
Ability to plan, organizes, and prioritizes work in order to accomplish work in compliance with quality standards and deadlines, and departmental policies and procedures.
Ability to motivate a spirit of unity, loyalty, and helpfulness within and among staff.
Have an essential proficiency with Windows & Microsoft Office, which includes Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Ability to drive Salvation Army Vehicles in a safe manner.
Knowledge and continuing experience of commercial swimming pool operations to include monitoring chemicals, filtration processes and potential mechanical issues.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Education and Experience:
Four Year Degree in related field and three years of experience supervising an Aquatics program
or
Any equivalent combination of training and experience which demonstrates the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Certifications:
Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructor (or ability to obtain within established timeframe)
Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructor Trainer (or ability to obtain within established timeframe)
Red Cross Certified Lifeguard (or ability to obtain within established timeframe)
Red Cross Certified Lifeguard Instructor (or ability to obtain within established timeframe)
Certified Pool Operator (holds or qualifies as Certified Pool Operator within six months of attaining position.
Valid State Driver’s License
Safe from Harm Certification (provided by The Salvation Army)
