Art Director directs and develops the creative design and execution of visual communications to meet an organization's marketing or advertising objectives. Provides internal clients with design standards, tools, and guidance on communicating corporate image, branding, and identity. Being an Art Director leads the design and production operations of all visual elements including publications, infographics, and social content, that are deployed across digital, interactive and print. Stays current on latest trends. Additionally, Art Director develops a network of vendors, freelance artists, and designers to utilize for project support. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in art, graphic design or equivalent. Typically reports to top management. The Art Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be an Art Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.     Education Specialist (Art)

    Tribal School

    Department of Human Services

    Hourly Wage: $31.19/Regular/Full-Time


    The Education Specialist is a professional position in the Yakama Nation Tribal School. The job of the Education Specialist is done for the purpose(s) of providing support to the instructional process by serving as a teacher with specific responsibility for supervising students within the classroom and other assigned areas; developing lesson plans and delivering group and individual student instruction within established curriculum guidelines; collaborating with other teachers, other professional staff, and administrators in addressing instructional and/or classroom issues; and responding to a wide range of inquiries from students, parents or guardians regarding instructional program and student progress.


    Examples of Work Performed:

    Adapts classroom work for the purpose of providing students with instructional materials that address individualized learning plans within established lesson plans.

    Administers developmental testing programs, subject specific assessments, etc. for the purpose of assessing student competency levels and/or developing individual learning plans.

    Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress for the purpose of communicating expectations; student's achievements; developing methods of improvement and/or reinforcing classroom goals in the home environment.

    Assesses student progress towards objectives, expectations, and/or goals for the purpose of providing feedback to students, parents, and administration.

    Collaborates with instructional staff, other school personnel, parents, and a variety of community resources for the purpose of improving the overall quality of student outcomes, achieving established classroom objectives in support of the school improvement plan.

    Demonstrates methods required to perform classroom and/or subject specific assignments for the purpose of providing an effective program that address individual student requirements.

    Directs assistant teachers, student teachers, instructional assistants, volunteers and/or student workers for the purpose of providing an effective classroom program and addressing the needs of individual students.

    Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.

    Implements academic, behavior, health, and nutrition plan (e.g., literacy activities, stories, songs, math/science activities, art, etc.) For the purpose of ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, established guidelines and performance standards and encouraging parent involvement.

    Instructs students for the purpose of improving their success in academic, interpersonal, and daily living skills through a defined course of study.

    Performs other related duties as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

    Prepares a variety of written materials (e.g., grades, attendance, anecdotal records, etc.) for the purpose of documenting student progress and meeting mandatory requirements.

    Reports incidents (e.g., fights, suspected child abuse, suspected substance abuse, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining personal safety of students, providing a positive learning environment, and adhering to Education Code and school policies.

    Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns and/or directing to appropriate personnel for resolution.

    Responds to inquiries from a variety of sources (e.g., other teachers, parents, administrators, etc.) for the purpose of resolving issues, providing information and/or direction.


    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    Knowledge of pertinent laws, codes, policies and/or regulations, personnel procedures, and standard business practices.

    Skill to perform multiple and technical tasks with a potential need to upgrade skills in order to meet

    changing job conditions.

    Ability to operate standard office equipment and a variety of software applications.

    Ability to facilitate a number of activities, meetings, agendas and/or events.

    Ability to investigate complex problems.

    Ability to enforce discipline policies, rules, and regulations.

    Ability to write documents following a prescribed format and present information to others.

    Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

    Ability to routinely gather, collate and/or classify data using job-related equipment.

    Ability to be flexible to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances.

    Ability to analyze issues and create action plans with independent problem solving.

    Ability to meet scheduled deadlines.

    Ability to adapt to changing work priorities.

    Ability to work independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve unit objectives.

    Ability to demonstrate a high degree of personal integrity and be able to maintain strict confidentially.


    Minimum Requirements:

    Bachelor's Degree in Education or related field.

    Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement or special Emergency Endorsement and maintenance of a valid certificate as required.

    Must possess a valid First Aid/CPR card or ability to obtain one within six months of hire.

    Must not have a history of child abuse or neglect.

    Must not have no history of drug or alcohol abuse.

    Required to pass background and fingerprint check in accordance with Yakama Nation Tribal School policy.

    Required to pass a pre-employment background check.

    Required to pass a pre-employment drug test.

    Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License with the ability to obtain a Yakama Nation Driving Permit.

    Preferred Requirements:

    Master's Degree in Education or related field.
