Art Manager manages the creative design and execution of visual communications to meet an organization's marketing or advertising objectives. Provides internal clients with design standards, tools, and guidance on communicating corporate image, branding, and identity. Being an Art Manager oversees the design and production operations of all visual elements including publications, infographics, and social content, that are deployed across digital, interactive and print. Monitors projects and timelines. Additionally, Art Manager stays current on latest trends. Develops and manages a network of vendors, freelance artists, and designers to utilize for project support. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in art, graphic design or equivalent. Typically reports to a director. The Art Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an Art Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Position Summary
    The Dayton Art Institute seeks Summer Art Camp Instructors to teach hands-on themed-based lessons to students congruent to the grade level they will enter in the Fall 2024 (grades 1-3, 4-6, and 7- 9). Instructors must be able to develop an art camp curriculum based on pre-determined themes connecting to the Museum’s collection. Instructors may teach up to three (3) weeks during the summer. The maximum capacity for each session (morning and afternoon) is 15 students. There will be a minimum enrollment for most camps. The morning and afternoon week-long camp sessions begin in June and run through August (there will not be classes the week of July 4th).
    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: developing comprehensive hour by hour lesson plans that create an intentional and well-paced experience for campers under the supervision of the SAC Administrator, conducting hands-on, full-day classroom instruction; group management during break times and gallery visits; preparing supplies and materials for classes; performing cleanup of studio and equipment; maintaining order of materials and supplies in studios; interacts with campers and parents; and working with college-age summer camp interns and volunteer high school students to prepare and implement projects and art activities.
    This is a temporary seasonal position with a starting rate of $25.00/hour.

    Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experiences
    • Bachelor’s degree in art education, fine art or other related experience
    • One to three years teaching experience
    • Experience teaching camps a plus
    • Familiarity with Common Core Standards a plus
    • Experience in mixed aged classrooms
    • Demonstrated classroom and group management skills
    • Experience with arts integration a plus
    • Experience working with a diverse student population
    • Ability to teach a range of art-making techniques
    • Comfortable working with elementary and middle school-aged children
    • Friendliness and engaging teaching practice
    • Patience and understanding
    • Willingness to work collaboratively and follow guidelines from museum Education staff to learn
    and adapt strategies of engagement (including games) in teaching from the museum’s collection
    • Knowledge of American Sign Language or multilingual a plus
