Assembly Supervisor supervises a manufacturing production line that assembles fabricated parts. Creates daily work schedules, follows standard manufacturing procedures, and monitors work to meet product specifications and production targets. Being an Assembly Supervisor resolves production problems and answers workers' questions about processes, methods, or equipment. Delivers training for new processes or equipment and onboard new employees. Additionally, Assembly Supervisor conducts quality testing on completed assemblies to validate tolerances and product specifications. Reviews daily assembly production records to identify trends or potential performance issues. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Assembly Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be an Assembly Supervisor typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS- Uses hand tools to assemble units and parts.
- Affixes warning and associated product decals and reflectors as specified.
- Maintains accuracy of product by following specifications, work orders, and known practices.
- Inspects equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects.
- Maintains accuracy of product by following specs and known practices.
- Maintains/produces level of inventory that will minimize production delays.
- Cleans and maintains an orderly work area.
- Communicates effectively with other workers to direct personal workflow.
- Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Operates equipment in a safe manner and reports hazards associated with the equipment or its operation to the Safety Director and Production Supervisor and Manager.
- Assists other individuals in any department when needed.
- Assists in housekeeping items.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES- Good communication skills relative to supervisor and other related departments.
- Math skills including good understanding of fractions.
- Ability to read tape measure.
- Ability to read and understand schematics and technical documents.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Physical ability to climb and work on a ladder
- Physical ability to work in awkward positions such as kneeling, bending, stooping, crawling and overhead positions.
- Ability to operate various shop tools including power and manually operated wrenches.
