POSITION TITLE: Assistant District Attorney-Juvenile

LOCATION: Carter County Office, Ardmore, OK

STATUS: Full-Time

WHEN: Immediate Opening

SALARY: Commensurate with experience

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Located in the heart of Lake Country, District 20 is the home to Lake Murray, Lake Texoma, Lake of the Arbuckles and the Chickasaw National Recreational Center, Turner Falls, as well as Lake Crest Hotel & Casino at Lake Murray, Winstar Casino, Artesian Hotel & Casino, and soon the Hard Rock Café at Lake Texoma. Carter County is the main office in the district with satellite offices in Johnston, Love, Marshall & Murray Counties. Ardmore is a growing community with a vibrant downtown and small town feel with big city amenities located half-way between Oklahoma City and Dallas. The office is open Monday -Friday 8-5 and closed for an hour for lunch.

The Juvenile Assistant District Attorney is assigned to handle all 10A juvenile cases relating to children and families as well as truancy cases. This ADA will review DHS DA reports submitted to our office to determine whether deprived actions are filed, meet and staff delinquent actions with OJA, prosecute deprived and delinquent actions, handle all juvenile cases prosecuted by this office. In addition, the ADA will also carry a criminal caseload of misdemeanors and select felony offenses. The ADA will be responsible for filing, prosecuting, and representing the State in all facets of the criminal case in Carter County and occasional travel to the other counties.

Attorney may advise county officials as requested. Attorney will work closely with other attorneys, staff, partner agencies, law enforcement, defense attorneys and the bench.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Prior prosecution experience is preferred but not required. Prefer but not required prior legal experience. Juris Doctorate from accredited law school. Admitted to and good standing with Oklahoma Bar Association.

Applicants must possess strong writing and research skills, and the ability to effectively communicate and work with law enforcement, elected officials, attorneys, and other agencies.

Must be able to pass a fingerprint and background check and have no criminal history.
