Job Summary:

The Assistant Controller is responsible for preparing and reviewing various reconciliations and required journal entries, inputting GL entries, preparing board reports, and assisting with internal and external audits.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Research and resolve accounts payable issues and correct discrepancies with vendors. 
• Review prepaids and fixed assets in BankTEL. 
• Prepare and calculate mortgage commissions and distribute for approval. 
• Resolve bank account and GL issues. 
• Assist with internal and external audits. 
• Obtain information for Board reports. 
• Gather financial data and prepare financial reports for month-end and other projects as needed. 
• Prepare appropriate general ledger entries and reconciliations. 
• Serves as backup for other accounting staff.
• Assist Controller and other management with projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding all Bank financials and employment information. 
• Proven accuracy with numbers. 
• Excellent attention to detail. 
• Ability to adjust to high volume periods. 
• Ability to function effectively both independently and within a team environment. 
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
• General knowledge of payroll laws and regulations. 

Education/Experience/Licenses/Certifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required. 
• 5 years of Banking experience required.
